‘The Creativ Fund’, created to give an opportunity of a lifetime to aspiring fashion designers in Uganda.
It is estimated that nearly 400,000 students will be graduating from university in Uganda this year but only 150, 000 are likely to get jobs and that number is still not guaranteed jobs.
According to a recent Twitter Space by Wizarts Foundation, the Ugandan government will be creating 400 jobs this year. This number is rather actually alarming and doesn’t close the unemployment gap. Youth unemployment is a huge problem in Uganda and most parts of Africa. The number of unemployment still outweighs the number of jobs being created. Then there’s the problem of the older generation which doesn’t show signs of retiring or leaving their jobs, creating no room for the younger ones to take up space in office.
We know the uncertainty and lack of government support during these challenging times have been extremely challenging for our many young people.
So The Creativ Fund competition is here to be a beacon of hope to the youths, encourage fashion talent and help solve some of the unemployment issues that young people are facing in Uganda today.
