During a time where social-distancing is the new normal, fashion brands are re-thinking their strategies on how to present new collections. David Tlale, a South African luxury fashion brand, presented their new collection via their digital platforms such as Instagram and their website early this week.
According to a statement shared to Instagram, “the pre-recorded virtual fashion showcase serves as a call-to-action for the local Clothing and Textile Industry and the fashion community at large to help amplify and bring awareness to business sustainability in South Africa, and encourage adherence to the set ‘National Lockdown’ regulations.” Most countries across the world are on lockdown.
The collection, which is titled ‘Classica Icons’, features impeccably tailored trench coats and caftan shirts, complete with the brand’s signature prints. Perhaps what stood out most are the face masks some of the models donned as they strutted down the runway. Face masks have become a sartorial symbol of how the whole globe is standing together to end the Covid-19 pandemic.
The fashion show was presented in partnership with Boschendal Wines and Avon South Africa.
