Uganda’s top artists and painters

By  |

It’s my penultimate day here at Satisfashionug so I thought I would inject art into my editorial content. I am a bit of a drawer myself, I did art in college and I wasn’t so bad to be honest. To me, art is more than just beautiful drawings and pictures engraved in frames. Many consider art to be a ‘status symbol’ especially among the rich society. Most art is expensive and those who understand and appreciate this artistry buy into it. Art is also an element that influences fashion, the two go very hand-in-hand.
Here are two Ugandan artists that you need to know!

Roldan Tibirusya Roland: My first encounter with Roldan was at the Father and Daughter dance charitable event which was held at Serena hotel in December 2013. He has also painted the Queen of England during her recent visit to Uganda and other African dignitaries alike. Roldan is an artist who paints the mood at events and auctions his finished paintings immediately.

This is me signing a painting that Roldan had just finished painting and readying it for auction.

Julius Ssekalio Ssekajja: I just recently got to know Julius through social media and I have to say that he’s a true ace. The strong use of colour in his work reminds me of famous Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. For more of Julius’s work, go to his facebook fan page: Artziki
