Prabal Gurung’s New Etihad Airways Uniform is Nothing You’ve Seen Before
Prabal Gurung and Etihad Airways have collaborated on a special uniform unveiled over the weekend at the 2017 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The uniform is far from the boring uniform you’re used to on the plane.
“We are proud to create a jumpsuit with a strong shoulder and our signature architectural approach—something a bit unexpected, yet still feminine and empowering,” Gurung said over the weekend.
IMG model Chanel Iman modeled the new look in front of a Etihad Airways F1-branded Airbus A380. “Etihad’s foray into fashion is truly an innovative break from tradition,” Gurung added. “Similarly, we wanted to challenge the conceived notion of how Grid Girls are typically dressed.”
Last year, Etihad Airways struck a global agreement with WME/IMG as a long-term partner of the fashion industry. The synergy is in full effect with Gurung recently signed to IMG/WME for fashion deals and entertainment opportunities.
