How to use sugar as a facial scrub

By  |
Did you know that sugar – that terrible threat to the body and skin – can be used as a rejuvenating homemade face scrub that will actually help you look better? And you can use any type of sugar, anything that is extracted from sugarcane or sugar beet, so even white sugar that you’ve been told to avoid can do wonders!
When you apply sugar to your skin, it reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis which in turn releases the dead skin cells, allowing them to be exfoliated, exposing live skin cells.
Here is an easy tutorial on how to make and apply sugar face scrub:
  1. Wash your face well with lukewarm water to open your pores.
  2. Pour a teaspoon of granulated sugar of your choice in your palm and add a drop or two of water.
  3. Apply gently on your face and massage the sugar with circular movements. Do not press, just keep on massaging gently.
  4. After a 15 minute pause wash the sugar off your face with cool water to close the pores.
  5. At this point it will be good to apply a moisturizer.

And that’s it! You can apply the sugar scrub several times a week at the beginning and reduce the applications to once a week, over a month’s period.
