Dare is an emerging women’s wear clothing label that echoes the ethos of the woman who is influenced by style. The brand is helmed by UK based fashionista and good friend of this website, Doreen Faith. It is targeted to women aged 28 to 55.
The Dare woman is not a slave to trends, she’s the type of woman who wants stylish clothes to compliment and refresh her wardrobe. “As I’ve gotten older, I decided to move away from trends. I’ve become very discerning and only want clothes that I can wear season after season. I don’t mind re-wearing my clothes because I’m paying for quality and not throwaway pieces. Thus I’ve injected that element of my personality into Dare; I want her to wear her clothes as often as she wishes too! After all, she’s paying for quality,” Doreen says.
The current collection was hugely influenced by her wardrobe. “I have refused to draw inspiration from what’s already out there so I will stick to looking at things around me, especially my wardrobe, and sometimes design whatever comes into my mind. My focus is to design clothes which are centered around my core customer who is modern and wants stylish clothes with a classic edge. Of course I understand that trends are the driving force in fashion industry and they play a big part in its development and growth but Dare is about being different so I will stick to my brand’s values and vision, ” she adds.
Doreen’s personal style is one to marvel at something she wants to share with the rest of the women in Kampala who draw inspiration from her style. She has plans of opening a standalone store in Kampala, however for now her designs can be found at Bold at the plush Acacia Mall. Dare joins Bold’s enviable list of fashion designers that stock with the store, which includes Kwesh, Gloria Wavamunno and Sylvia Owori among other high-profile designers.
For the UK market, Doreen plans to launch an online store in October.
